Summer 7s Gents:

While it is still fresh in my brain, like residue on Bad Mitch's hair follicles, it is imperative to acknowledge those who contributed to Saturday's historical run at Woodward.

First and foremost, without the admin work of Khix, Paco, Bad Mitch and Cheese, this would not have been accomplished. At 9:00am we pondered whether there was enough HC boys to field one team, considering the looming 10:00 and 10:40 kick offs. Additionally, our only eagle pool player, was running his tin cup back and forth across the steel at the Cobb County Pokey. Of course, the other components of "Lethal Weapon Three" were busy sipping coffee at the Marietta Shoneys, working the local bail bondsmen like commodity traders. Anyway, come 9:30 it was decided that HC would play two schedules, a commitment for eight games, spaced 30 minutes apart on average. Good decision.

If memory serves, we racked up 5 tries on Augusta, then beat Alabama by one try, tied the Piglets at 14 a piece (Georgia Alumni), beat Renegades B by two tries, outscored Old White B by 3 tries and racked up 4 or 5 tries on Chattanooga. That put both teams at a combined 5-0-1 and in both sides of the semifinals.

Semifinal #1 vs. The Piglets. It was kind of obvious that the Piglets were fitter and younger than our team, but we had scrapped to a tie earlier in the day and felt that our ball movement was better. I believe we beat them by one or two tries, but all who watched acknowledged that the back line of Kenya, Christian and Rich decided the match. I am not forgetting Cheeses' charge up the middle to feed Head for a score under the posts, but the kick and chase game really messed the Piglets up. Thanks also to Cheese for being a gentlemen and warning his opponent twice for riding his neck before knocking him unconscious in the previous Piglet game. Acknowledgement to Jimbo for playing like a man with a pulled hamstring.

Semifinal #2 vs. The Slackers. Since we were warned about mixing the rosters, this best of rest HC side was possibly taken a little lightly by the experienced Slackers side. Our side looked a little like an AARP convention seeing that 4 out of the seven who started were over 35. The remaining three are knocking on the door. Who would have thunk that HC would score 4 converted, unanswered tries. Lucky and Matt Reynolds hooked up for 2 tries on some really nice handling while Greg Bambic put one in and played his balls off. Kurt Thomas showed he still has psycho tendencies when he ran 30 meters before lowering his shoulder into there toughest player and managed to flick the try to me for a long score (I'm still tired). All you Kurt. HC managed to hold on for a 28-14 win which set up an all HC final. Acknowledgement to Lee, Bad Mitch and Hix for playing like crazed dogs.

Again, to all who were there, this was an excellent day for our team. Our social attitude and sense of fair play amongst ourselves prevailed. I'm still hungover.

Good Mitch.

Roster:
