Buckhead 7s Recap
Posted on Monday 09 June @ 07:23:56 | Send this story to a friend | Printable Version

Summer 7s High Country entered 2 teams in the Buckhead 7's. We were a little short as usual, and added Gene from Montgomery and his friend, with the pregnant wife. We played eight games losing none, and tying the Piglets from Athens. We avenged our tie by beating the Piglets in the quarter finals to advance one of our teams to the finals. The other quarter finals match was against our old friends the Renegades. It was there second side. This was our second time playing them as well, and the results were 2 wins over the Renegades B side.

The final match was a celebration at mid-field with both the 1st and 2nd place trophies serving a toasting mugs. Peabody declared High Country the winner, and we did our "we like, we like, we like ugly women toast"

Our fearless leader Buddha elected to referee that day. He was a vision in strips. No Horizontal, Vertical! And refereed a few games for us.

MVP of the tournament was Kenya. His kicking, and fitness made the difference. Christian also played extremely well. They made an excellent 1-2 punch. Rich Ferry spent the day with us, and gave us one of the best back lines in either division, open or qualifying.

Nice to see Greg out with us and Brandon, his ball retrieving son. He'll make an excellent Forward in a few years. Gabe and Cheese had a solid day, as did Hix and Bad Mitch. Combover, Jim, and Robert played well too. JT had 3 good minutes before injury. The Jaffe boys were their usual, and had a great day. Kurt Thomas showed even without hair, fitness, youth, and injured he's still a player. Best play I say was the pass from Kurt to Mitch against the Gades captain, Spencer, for a try in the quarter finals on the big field. If I missed anyone sorry. A great day for High Country.
