Minutes from Last Officers Meeting
Posted on Thursday 06 December @ 17:34:22 | Send this story to a friend | Printable Version

Club News First of all, as special thanks to Mitch for letting us meet at his house. Believe it or not, I think the meeting went by much more smoothly and quickly, than if we had to meet at the pub. Mitch, please extend our thanks to Michelle, as well. She's a good sport.

The following is a synopsis of what was discussed, resolved, and what is
currently being worked on:

I. Recruitment

During the offseason, all potential recruits inquiring via the website
will be automatically added to the email blast. If they request removal,
that's fine, but we see the automatic inclusion as a good way to keep new
guys informed of when we'll start up again, as well as make them feel
welcome.

We unanimously decided to pursue joint practices with Emory. JT is in
charge of tracking them down, as we have not heard from them since the
Renegades tournament. I have since corresponded with Buddha, and he's all
fired up about it. One thing to consider is that we'll probably have to
beef up our coaching staff, or something.

II. Elections/AGM

We decided that the only reason we need an AGM is for election of new
officers. Rather than call a whole meeting we decided we could elect
officers more effectively with a ballot to be completed by each member
present at our first home game. Alex Munoz will draft the positions, and
the roles and responsibilities of each (Pres., VP, Tras., Secretary, Match
Secretary and Team Captain). We will begin asking for nominations at the
first practice of next season (Jan. 15). Immediately following the
conclusion of the first home game, selected officers will distribute
ballots to each club member present, to be completed on the spot. The same
officers will collect the completed ballots immediately afterward. I
suppose we'll count the ballots and announce the winners at the drinkup,
where they will prove their leadership qualifications by drinking or
something.

III. Tours

For St. Patrick's Day Weekend, we'll make our annual trek to Savannah.
Butterknife has already reserved six rooms at the Budget Inn (aka the
rathole off the interstate), for a complete weekend cost of $278.12/room.
Paco will ensure that we are entered in the tournament.

We still plan to attend Maggotfest. Paco is entering us and getting
the ball rolling on deposits & committments. I talked to Butterknife, and
he's going to look into group/team rates on airfare, as well as reserve us
four or five rooms.

IV. Social

As the initial Old Boy showing was rather impressive, Alex Munoz will
continue to develop the Old Boys as a distinctive club entity. We look
forward to seeing more matches scheduled.

The Banquet will be scheduled for March 23, which is the first off
weekend of the season. This weekend immediately follows St. Patrick's Day
Weekend, so we'll all be in party mode, but it is before the playoffs and
Maggotfest, so we will not yet have been released to the offseason. Thanks
to Paco and Pretty Mitch (or whomever), we have a credit at the same hotel
as where we held the 25th anniversary. More details as this develops.

V. Fundraising

The Half K is scheduled for Feruary 2, the week before our first game.
By then, we will have been practicing for three weeks, so we should have a
pretty good handle on numbers, and we can use the opportunity as a social
kickoff to the Spring Season. As we develop our relationship with the
Brewhouse, we'll sort out the details, but it ought to be much like the
last one......bottomless cup (as much as a couple of kegs will allow for
the crowd) for $20, some door prizes, and we will have T-shirts for sale.
