When did Brenden move to Norcross? I heard his love shack was in
Marietta. Trevor can you confirm?
Re Alex's suggestion about HC Old Boys moving their Xmas gathering to
joining the ORBS for their Xmas gathering at MnAs, just an fyi on
upcoming ORB games:
February 26-27: Ft Lauderdale Tournament. We have an over 45 side
entered and are trying to pull together an over 35 side. Is anyone
interested in playing on either side? I need to know about over 35 guys
ASAP or I am going to can that effort. (As always we need backs... What
do backs do when they get old? Become spokes-models for AARP and ACORN?
Hold gay commitment ceremonies at Pretty Mitch's house? They obviously
don't continue to play rugby like old forwards do.)
Tentative Old Boy Tournament over Easter in the Bahamas. This is 35 and
older with most being 40 and older. It is a cheap roundtrip flight out
of Atlanta (approx $150-170) Hotel accommodations are VERY cheap as
well. Currency is 1:1 exchange and drinks are MUCH cheaper than
Buckhead. Gambling is legal and there are several casinos. This is the
PERFECT trip to take the spousal unit and familial subsets if you need
to do a family vacation and would like to get some rugby in too. Last
Spring we had 7 wives and a number of kids go. Everyone had fun and
nobody felt "restrained" in their behavior.
Memorial Day weekend- If the Easter tournament does not materialize, the
trip will be moved to the original Memorial Day weekend date and all
above info still applies.
June 6th Hartford CT: USA v Wales We have two skyboxes reserved. Game
tickets, tailgate, suite/box and adult beverages will run about $60/pp.
If we get enough interest we will add a third skybox/suite. We are
working on scheduling an old boy match with a local club that weekend as
well.
If you or any old boy you know is interested in any of these events,
please contact me now! I will not make you commit yet, but I need to get
a feeling for numbers to start the logistical ball rolling.
And as always, keep your eyes peeled for the ORBS v old weak date.
Anyone wishing to pound old weak is welcome to come out and get their
licks in.
Lastly and MOST IMPORTANTLY- I am again requesting that you send me a
list of your favorite rugby nicknames (for inclusion in my soon to be NY
Times best seller "Rugby Nicknames and the Players behind them: An A-Z
Dictionary") and a short description/explanation/example of why the
person got the name or deserves the name. You story tellers out there,
JT, Brenden, Lee, Emil, et al. -please step up! I can think of several
HC nicknames right off the bat that I want to include in my literary
effort: King Stupid, Etch-a-Sketch, The Senator, Dream, The Hansons,
and Tool, to name just a few. Might I suggest somebody bring a tape
recorder and tape the stories? I would be happy to transcribe them...
Cheers!
