Battleship is hosting their 23rd annual tournament October 27-28.

I am pleased to extend to your club a second invitation to participate in the
23rd annual Battleship Rugby Tournament to be held October 27th and 28th
of this year. I sent out an invitation about three weeks ago, which is
listed below. Our club is looking to expand our tournament and is looking
forward to having several new clubs. Even if you are a regular to our
tournament, we would like you to let us know of your intentions, so we can
start the process.

For clubs unfamiliar with us, we have what many consider to be one of the
most dramatic venues in the country, The USS Alabama, a World War II
battleship dominates the view from the pitches. In all, there can be as many
as seven fields set up in sight of each other.

The cost of the tournament is $350.00 ($300.00 if a check is received by
10/01/01) and includes a minimum of 2 games on Saturday and at least one game
on Sunday. The average temperature in late October in Mobile is 80 degrees
and the beaches are less than 30 minutes away. All matches are played at
Battleship Memorial Park located right on Mobile Bay. Other information
about the tournament, including registration can be found on the club

There are direct flights into Mobile from Houston, Chicago, Nashville,
Cincinnati, Atlanta, and Washington, DC. Also, the Biloxi casinos subsidize
cut rate flights into Gulfport-Biloxi Airport which is one hour to the West.
