High Country vs Macon Love RFC - October 17, 2009

For their first home game of the season, High Country RFC hosted Division II foe Macon RFC at Walker Park. Due to an early kick off time, the weather before the game was brutally cold, an attempt by fate to cool off a very hot High Country team that came into the game with a 5-1 record and a previous week rout of the Atlanta Bucks 120-0. Nevertheless, High Country prevailed and beat the Macon team about 37-22, the score closer than the game actually was.

Heart of Dixie Tournament - October 3rd-4th, 2009

During the first week of October 2009, High Country RFC traveled to Huntsville, Alabama to take part in the Heart of Dixie Tournament. The team had not traveled to Huntsville since the infamous Fan Brawl of 2007, where Huntsville fans on the sideline attacked High Country players on the pitch. This time around, High Country kept the fighting on the pitch, ending the tournament with one victory and one loss. Each game the team played great, just couldn’t execute down the stretch to win the final one.

High Country RFC at Athens RFC - September 19, 2009

On Saturday September 19th, 2009 High Country RFC traveled to Athens, Georgia to play the newly formed Athens Men’s RFC. As coach talked about during the pregame preparations, the lead up to the game was full of distractions and adversity that had to be dealt with. First, the team was without five starters and countless key substitutes that had played important minutes throughout the young season. Second, the weather was rainy causing field delays and messy conditions.

High Country @ Chattanooga RFC - September 12th, 2009

On September 12th for the second Saturday in a row, , High Country RFC took to the pitch against a team that thought they had victory before the opening kick. Once again, High Country proved otherwise in convincing fashion, winning decisively 30-19. In this case, the team took to the road to face an old foe, Division II team Chattanooga RFC. Although the teams had not faced each other in more than a decade, the pitch was the same and the setting a typical day for late summer Tennessee, extremely hot and humid.
